Wacky Wednesday: Nail Doodles

Wacky Wednesdays is when I try new-to-me techniques.  I promise I will post how it turns out, no matter what it looks like!

I got some nail art brushes and was excited to try them.

I tend to doodle when I’m talking on the phone and usually just grab whatever is around me (post-it notes, envelopes, printouts, etc).  I’ve been doodling variations on the below design since I was little and thought I would try to recreate it on my nails.

Doodles on a to-do list

It was definitely harder than I thought it would be, but I think I did a decent job.

I started with a base color of Essie Marshmallow, which took three coats to get the opacity I wanted.  I let it dry for about 20 minutes and then I used OPI Black Onyx to draw on the lines.  I used the thinnest brush I had.  Clearly I need more practice, because the lines are variable in width and density of color.  You can definitely tell it’s not a stamp!

I let the lines dry for another 20 minutes and then I dipped a slightly wider brush in Essie Sure Shot and added some color throughout each design.  After that, I topped it off with Seche Vite.

I definitely need more practice, but in the two days I wore this (yes, I did both hands!), I got many compliments and ‘how did you do that?’ questions.  I think I can now graduate this type of art from Wacky Wednesdays; it’s no longer new to me!
